Tomorrow are our parent meetings. They are going to be quite informal. I see them as being a great time for you and your child to come into our classroom to check things out and to touch base with me. I will also be showing you some artwork that your child will be working on tomorrow. Our fundraising crew will be making Christmas cards out of student artwork this year. I will show you your child's sample and you can decide if you want to participate in the fundraiser.
There will also be a Book Fair going on beside our classroom. We will be visiting it from 12:45-1;05 tomorrow. If you want, feel free to send money with your child. If you do so though, please send me a little note with any instructions you may have. There are lots of little knick knacks that tend to distract kids from the books. I generally discourage the kids to stay away from those. This book fair will also be open when you come for your meetings so you might just want to save any purchasing until then.
This week we will be focusing on the letter Dd. You can support this learning by asking your child to locate the d's on cereal boxes, toy boxes and books. You can also ask them the sound it makes and some words that start with it.
I just updated our November calendar. I did not include show and share days. This month, instead of using the online calendar, I will include a reminder on a piece of paper in your child's mailbag. Sorry if that was confusing to you last month. The theme of this month will be to bring in an item that starts with the same letter as your child's name.
I need some help with something if you can. Since it's a new month, we have created new centers. One center we are offering is a creation station. We are going to put an assortment of items and materials out for kids who like to just create with a variety of materials. If you have any interesting items that you usually throw away or recycle, would you please send them into the classroom? Some useful items might be toilet or paper towel rolls, buttons, small plastic containers, bottle caps, corks or lids, small scraps of cloth, small pieces of wood, or other craft supplies you no longer have a use for.
If you have not done so, please send in an extra set of clothing for your child. Put it in a labelled bag please. Wet socks and sleeves are a common problem we face. A new dry item is handy to have.
I hope you all were able to check out all of the Halloween pictures I posted on Friday. If you are unsure of how to get to them, click on the tab above labelled Pictures. Then click on the topic you want and it will take you to the folder where I keep the pictures I take.
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow. If you cannot make it, let me know and we can make other arrangements.
